This piece of art is one of the Candy Girls series done by Yoshitaka Amano. It is one of the many works displayed at Isetan Scotts in a collaboration with three Japanese contemporary art galleries, Mizuma Gallery, Ota Fine Arts and Tomio Koyama Gallery Singapore. This exhibition features many well established Japanese artists such as Yayoi Kusama, Yoshitaka Amano, etc. The collaboration was made in an effort to create a fusion of fashion and art as well as to bring attention to these works that exude their own unique sense of beauty. I was very happy to discover this exhibition as I am a fan of Japanese art and have admired the work of Yoshitaka Amano ever since I was a child. While admiring the displayed works, I was reminded again of what I found so appealing about art from Japan. It seemed so different and original compared to other styles established in other Asian countries. I love how it can be so unconventionally colourful and lively and yet retain a sensitivity and subtlety that is prevalent in the more traditional types of Japanese art. It is always refreshing to experience the coexistence of tradition and modernity.

Eko prawoto pitches wormhole with conical bamboo structures wormhole.

Indonesian architect Eko Prawoto’s ‘wormhole’ bamboo installation for the Singapore art Biennale 2013. Three conical bamboo structures on the front lawn of the national museum of Singapore. I find this art installation very interesting because it enables us to interact and enjoy the uniqueness of it. When I went inside the 'wormhole' itself, It shows how much effort the artist put in just to contribute to this special event. Inside the 'wormhole', there are seats where we can just sit down and look at the lighting from the sun, moving clouds seen through  the cone’s crown and the distinctive smell and texture of bamboo. Its been said that this art installation resembles time travelling as a wormhole is the hypothetical opening in the galaxy, which would allow for time and space travel. Overall, his work is one of those that makes me appreciate art.

Lumbung Ilmu is the title of this art work. It's one of the interesting art that captured my eyes . The artist himself, Rosid, is trying to show how those farmers back then were staying in and also other objects that they were using back then for harvesting. All of the object there are made from wood. What makes it more interesting is the way they carve out each and every material for the harvesting.  It was being carve well with detail and nice texture on it.I got to know that Lumbung actually means hut, and this hut is being use to store harvested rice and protect it from the pests. Rosid work here has shown me how different it was for farmers back then and now.

A Natural Phenomenon

This is an installation done by Suzann Victor and it is called Rainbow Circle: Capturing A Natural Phenomenon. It was showcased at the National Museum of Singapore as part of the Singapore Biennale 2013 exhibition. More information about Suzann Victor's work here; http://www.singaporebiennale.org/?page=artist_bio&artist=48

The installation was one of the best highlights for me as it casts a rainbow which can be seen only at different angles. It reminds me of the waterfall I have seen in Cambodia which was really captivating and intriguing to me. It appeals to me that rainbows which usually appears naturally with sunlight and water vapor could be done artificially, like this installation.

Individually, this is a love or hate trend. Bold Hawaiian prints with flourishing flowers definitely stand-out in a crowd full of dull coloured clothes and it shows how much fun you like to have with your style and compliments your personality very well. I don't think a Gothic type of person would have this in their wardrobe. Additionally, it can easily be abused by someone who doesn't know what they’re doing with this pattern. One false move, and everything transform into a fashion disaster. Everything from t-shirts to snap-backs to pants and even shoes, are getting the Hawaiian treatment, and when paired subtly with some more muted pieces, it can surely give you the attention you deserve.

Sunset

I took a picture of the sunset on my way home from school. I think it is an interesting photo as it shows both the sunset and afternoon sky. And in the far back behind the MRT line you can see a few clouds that seems to be glowing brightly due to the afternooon sun, giving off a nostalgic feeling. The blue skies remind me of the afternoon sky even though it's already 7:09 p.m. in the night . It shows that the day passes by slowly as the sun sets patiently with a pinkish-red glow at the back of the picture. The picture really shows a pleasent contrast between the colour red and blue along with the mrt line with white patch of clouds as their divider. I prefer the blue sky as it's telling me that the day isn't over yet as I have many more things to do in life or that day. Overall that day I love the contrast shown on the picture, giving off interesting messages to me!  :) XD :p

Reminiscence by Ang Ah Tee

Reminiscence was a solo art exhibition by Ang Ah Tee which was held in Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA), campus 1, gallery 1. The exhibition was started from 25th of October 2013 until 13th of November 2013.

Ang Ah Tee was a Singaporean Artist that inspired by Van Gogh's works. He used to use watercolor and oil paint as his medium, but now he used acrylic paint as his main medium to paint. Most of his work was a contemporary, semi abstract painting. He mixed both Western and Chinese painting techniques. The picture below was one of his painting entitled "View From Sentosa" which he painted on 2012. The subtle colors and bold strokes that he used shows strong emotion and feeling to its viewer. That is why his paintings describes how skillful he was.
